異なる発想をしてみる.

生成文法では, 同じ内容でも時代によって異なる見方をすることがある. それは理論の基盤が修正されたことが理由であり, それにより従来では捉えきれていなかった特徴や, なぜそうなるのかといった根本的な原因を捉えようとするモチベーションがあるからである. 次の1節は, そういった同じ内容でも異なる発想でものを見ることにより気づく点であろう.

The relation Agree and uninterpretable fea-tures are prima facie imperfections. In MI and earlier work, it is suggested that both may be part of an optimal solution to minimal design specifi-cations by virtue of their role in establishing the property of “displace-ment,” which has (at least plausible) external motivation in terms of distinct kinds of semantic interpretation and perhaps processing.
