生得的な原理といくつかのオプション
以前の投稿で, Principles and Parameters の発想によって理論が簡素化できることを見た. 今回はさらに改めて, Principles and Parameters が記述的な妥当性と説明的妥当性の緊張関係を解消したという部分を見てみたい.
The Principles and Parameters approach provides a potential solution to the logical problem of language acquisition, resolving at the same time the tension between descriptive and explanatory adequacy: the acquisition of very complex grammatical patterns can be traced back to innate principles and a limited process of selection among options.

ここで着目したいのは, logical problem of language acquisition（言語獲得の論理的問題）に対してPrinciples and Parameters（原理とパラメータ）は潜在的な解決策を提供することを期待されている点である.
つまり, これにより, もともと生じていた「記述的妥当性」と「説明的妥当性」の緊張関係が解消する兆しが見えたと捉えることができる.
