Lexicalization（語彙化）という現象がある.

この語彙化は, 様々な観点で今もなお研究がされているものの, この語彙化を「意味成分と形式単位の間に成立する体系的な対応関係」とまとめる, 非常に興味深い一節がある.

In general, we assume here that lexicalization is involved where a particular meaning component is found to be in regular association with a particular morpheme. More broadly, the study of lexicalization must also address the case where a set of meaning components, bearing particular relations to each other, is in association with a morpheme, making up the whole of the morpheme’s meaning.

Talmy (2009)によれば, 語彙化というものは, 単なる辞書への登録ではなく, より幅広い体系的な対応関係としている. これは意味を考慮する上で非常に重要な観点である.
