No Universal Grammar

普遍文法はあるのか？

Chomskyの生成文法では, 人間の内的な言語を捉え, その中にUniversal Grammarを求める研究姿勢が続いている.

他方, このアイデアは様々な場面で批判されることも少なくない. 一方でPennisi and Falzone (2016)はこのUniversal Grammarを内的な言語ではなく, 身体的な特性から導き出すことを提案している.

Maybe, there is no Universal Grammar and historical-natural languages, with their different phonological, syntactic and semantic systems, are the realization of an entire Universal Biological Structure, a neutral Bodily Language Technology which has been selected gradually over millions of years and has become irreversibly specific to the modern Homo sapiens.

Universal Biological Structureという発想は非常に面白いが, これもまた生成文法で考えれば, 第三要因的なものに帰着できるかもしれない.

また, より細かい脳の仕組みなどを考えてみれば, 第一要因, 第二要因としての発想につなげることもできるだろう.

言語は本当に難解なものなので, このような様々な観点で検討することは, 非常に大きな価値があるだろう.
